  • PullRite SuperGlide and Truck Liftgate

We picked up our Reflection 337RLS this week. We have a Chevy 3500, standard bed, with a PullRite SuperGlide hitch, towing the RV with a MORryde pin and capture plate. Hookup is fine, but with the PullRite glide/slide, it makes us nervous that the king pin can push the PullRite slide all the way back to the truck tailgate and of course hitting the tailgate. Has anyone else encountered this and what have you done? Keeping the tailgate down won’t work because a trailer turn may damage the tailgate. BTW, besides the tailgate concern, this all pulls nicely.

I have a superglide from my previous 5er and now run it on the 303. If the hitch is setup right it should not get that close to the rear. The handle on my hitch closed is still several inches from the tailgate when latched and pulled as if the truck and trailer were 90 in a right turn. I know my Pin box will not hit the tail gate b/c it takes me almost 90 to get the trailer into my driveway.

you may want to read and check the instructions for the setup of the Superglide. I am guessing you are using the puck system. https://www.pullrite.com/sites/defau...pter_proto.pdf is the instructions for the feet on the non 2020 puck's. NOTE ON PAGE 4 LOCATION OF THE PUCK ADAPTERS. Mine are actually 1 hole off to the rear (soon to be corrected). If you are using the ISR system, you need to check the location of the ISR's in the bed. If too far to the rear you will have issues.

If I understand your question correctly, you are forgetting how the Superglide works. The head and pin can only move back when you are turning. In fact it is the turning that forces the head to move. So the tailgate is quite safe, but that puts the sides in danger if there is too little vertical clearance.

Take a careful look at some of the videos of the hitch in action. If necessary have someone drive slowly around a parking lot while you look out the back window.
