  • Cant level trailer for towing

I have a Chevy 2500 HD that sits taller than a stock truck. I have a 2021 reflections 337RLS, the truck has a Curt A20 slider hitch with no height adjustment. the trailer sits too high in front when hitched, i'm guessing by about 2 inches, and bounces too much when towing. There is no more adjustment on the hitch pin box. Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way correct this?

I'm thinking of a narrower hitch pin box on the trailer, might be a bad idea

Does your truck sit higher because of a lift?

I was told it has a 4-inch lift kit but to be honest I can't see any lift kit suspension pieces. It definitely has larger than stock tires

I replaced the stock 4” spacers on my 350 with 250 2” spacers. Possibly you could do something similar sun yours. It was pretty straightforward with a couple floor jacks and an impact gun.

Gary Noe Gary, What year is your truck? How high is the top of the bed rail from the ground? Dig around on gmupfitter.com for the body builder stuff by your year and see how it differs from stock.

You may also want to fill out your signature for future help.

I filled out my signature last week with my truck and trailer information not sure how it's been lost. My bed rail is 60 inches off the ground. Also what spacers are you referring to Neal?

In a Ford (I assume similar for GM), there’s spacers blocks between the axle and the springs. There was a thread in the Ford trucks forum I followed, but it was pretty straightforward. I replaced the ubolts just to be in the safe side as well.

                Neil,

There would be spacers on a lifted truck where I'm uncertain if they are present in OEM trim. With a lifted truck, the blocks can be removed/replaced but the truck may squat, so the lift on the front may need to be addressed as well. Three methods to correct this issue is to return the truck to OEM ride height, have an additional frame rail welded into the trailer or use lift blocks on the trailer. If the blocks are excessively high, this can result in spring wrap, excessive front axle rise and stress on the rear hangers of the rear axle of the trailer.

Here are the parts to lift a 2020-2021 truck.

Right that makes sense. On my Ford they put higher spacers in the rear of the 350 than the 250, which gives it a noticeable rake from front to back. Even when loaded with the Reflection it was still riding higher in the back. I tried suggesting to my wife the only solution was a heavier trailer, but she would not go for it lol. Mine is a 2019 and I think I heard they fixed this in the 2020 trucks and lowered it some. With the 250 2" spacers now I ride level when hooked up, and I was able to increase the distance between the bed rails and the gooseneck by raising my Goosebox height.

Gary Noe Gary, Just measured my 18 2500 (same as the 17 2500 i had) and the bed rail at the center of the rear axle is 57" unloaded.

There are no blocks between the springs and the axle perch on a stock 2500. Depending on the type of lift, it could had the springs replaced or re arched.

The tall trucks look cool but burn more fuel and raise cane with the RV industry. Ford did get beat up and had to lower them even though they looked really good with the increased ride height. Nice try on the solitude. I would have gone for it too.
