  • After a year, new hitch

I made the switch from chain bars (Husky brand) to a Husky Centerline. The test ride went well but we will be headed out soon on our longest excursion yet very soon. That will be where the rubber meets the road, literally. Nine days and 544 miles total one way.

BillinTexas Nice level set up with your truck and trailer, "picture perfect". Amazing what we see on the road sometimes. Hope your new hitch works out for you, enjoy.

BillinTexas Bill, clean looking install. Personally not a fan of the sliding bar system, you may want to get the slider pads if you don't already have them as the bars tend to make a lot of noise from what I have heard.

Thanks, Joseph. Went smoother than I imagined it would. No slider pads for this one and have been advised that the noise is part of it doing it's job.

BillinTexas I would not be surprised if the Equilizer pads fit. https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories...5-01-5150.html The pads do not stop the bars from working, they just help with the noise and wear.

My brackets are too wide, I measured the other day when someone in a FB group recommended them. I agree with you though, the control comes from the weight transfer from the tension and that doesn't change because it has a pad under it.

I used the Husky Centerline on my last trailer for about 20K miles. Was very happy with it, and never had any issues, even in some pretty interesting crosswinds. They are a bit noisy on sharp turns, but normal driving, you really have to listen for the noise.
