The question is how to bring power from the under hood upfitter relay box, back into the passenger compartment. In my case, I want to power my dash cam through an upfitter switch. I am still looking for the “rumoured” wires through the passenger side of the firewall to accomplish this.

      Hi Keith,

I did see that info in the owners manual, but it does not seem to fit what I have found (so far) under hood. The output wires from the upfitter relay box is as shown in this Youtube video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lyyCySV-mY I am reluctant to pull the battery, looking for the engine compartment end of the pass through wires . . . until I can confirm that the they are there on the passenger compartment side.

That's what I posted about - supposed to be under passenger battery tray (white tape) and ends in the passenger side foot well. Look under accessories page 616 in manual. It also looks like they down rated the aux switch ratings - nothing over 15 amp now. Howard mentioned a bigger one in his DC-DC project. However trailer charge circuit is supposed to be 30 amp. If you find them please post a picture.

        Hope this helps

Certainly could be different than my 19, but my pass through wires ended right near the firewall, but down a little ways. I remember them being a pain to splice on to.

My switches were varying current ratings, the two largest were 40 amps, and one of them feeds my Viair with no additional relay needed.

            Hi Keith,
There is a lot of conflicting information about this. The fuses in the relay box match the earlier higher amperage descriptions.

That's good (great) news - Ill take what I am reading in the manual with a grain of salt then. If you have time can you confirm the trailer charge fuse is 30A. Might change up my DC-DC charger project to use the stock wiring. Of course that depends on what gauge Ford wired to the plug.
              Thanks

This discussion does tell me to have the dealer locate theses wires for me during the PDI

Good luck with that, that thread I linked had a people who asked their dealer to do that and they couldn't find them lol.

Im lucky I have a service manager that actually knows stuff and if not will find out one way or another. They have a lot of oil field trucks in with wiring you wont believe on the extras. I plan to email him on where the wires are - Ill post back.

Who's idea was it to put the fuse box in a hole behind the battery and under the bodywork where you can't even fully remove the cover . (By comparison the F150 fuse box is on top of the rad front-and center)

                    Yoda
In any case . . . fuse 7 "trailer tow battery charge" is 30A. I have no idea about wire gauge but you would assume that it supports 30A all the way to the trailer plug.

Interesting that the word "Scrap" appears in the center of the fuse block . . . highlighted by the camera flash LOL!

Geese now I need to carry different type fuses in my tool box - I guess I need to read up on them - never seen that type before.

BTW I think you read the SCRAP label wrong - it means Special -Cr## It must be special for the price we paid. There are actually a few more letters - I think I see and IP too. so what does SCRAPIP mean?

Thanks for checking on the fuse

one other thought - are you supposed to remove the hood to get at it?

                      Keith
On edit - is is interesting they label the torque limit on the retaining bolt 10 Nm max

It will be easy to get to the fuses once I get the truck body lifted off . . .

Yoda Keith, I think it says "SCRAP IF DROPPED".

I built a kit of fuses that I carry in the truck, every time I buy a new one, open the panel, then off to the parts house to buy whatever odd ball thing they changed. It does not amaze me to know that in my GM there are 5 different types of fuses. On top of the batteries there are also not single replaceable fuses but instead you have to replace the whole bus distribution bar thing.

With the camper glass fuses in things like the fridge and HWH, I think i have just about ever type of fuse ever used in the auto industry somewhere between the camper and the truck. I know there has to be at least $30 worth of fuses between the 2 that I carry as spares.

This might help you find the pass through wires.
