  • Jlawles2 can you put the screws in from inside the box and the nuts on the outside? Then the nuts are accessible.

    • TedS I could have, but that's not the way they were originally installed. Even on the Lippert box, it was impossible to get to the nuts on the inside. I did torque one from the outside, then check the inside to verify it was not loose, then proceed. Got lucky that the bolt/washer/nut combination torqued evenly.

      • I think the screws are short enough that the windup effect of torquing from the screw head is negligible compared to torquing the nut.

        • Whats interesting on my pin box is the nuts are welded inside to the two set of holes that I can adjust too. In fact I cant get to the front ones due to the turning point bearing structure. But this did remind me to check thier torque when I get the new truck and make adjustment.

I would tend to agree with this. There will be a difference, but, I think, negligible.

              Hi Keith,

I did get the recall notice for the trailer brake apply problem . . . but have not taken the truck in to the dealer to have the software updated. I have no immediate plans for towing the RV, so no rush at this point.

Thanks for the update. It on my PDI list to check when my truck comes in.

                • NOTE: the dealer is SUPPOSED to ensure all recalls and software updates are done before releasing the truck to the owner.

I was told by a dealer that when they take in used vehicles, it's their responsibility to ensure there are no open recalls on any systems before selling it. This includes software.

My dealer is pretty good about making sure things are done, but I will still ask. My list also includes finding the up-fitter and pass through wires and making sure the RV charge circuit has the fuse in it. Over on the ford forum some have found it missing - parts shortage.
