  • F250 bed sides too high

Congrats!!! I have a question which may not belong here. What can you do if your F250 Lariat bed side walls are too high to enable turning clearance? We need about 4" more. Even if it could clear that means the angle of the FW may be too steep. The F250 is factory, not modified. Thanks for your help.

I have moved your post out on its own.

What year and is there a specific model that you are questioning about, Tremor, or the like?

I lowered the rear end of my F350. There are spacers in the rear end between the axle and spring. I think my stock blocks were four inches and I went down to two. There are aftermarket ones even shorter available. I followed the info on Ford-Trucks.com, I think it was this thread:

      https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-rear-end.html

Was pretty easy, did it on the ground with a torque wrench and floor jack.

If you lower the rear end, you should be able to raise the pinbox to different set of holes and maintain the same level, which will then increase the distance between the top of the bed rail and the RV. You may be able to get some extra space from your hitch adjustment as well, but the key would be to lower the bed so you have more options.

        Hi Scott,

Clearance between the overhang of the 5th wheel and the box rails of the truck is affected by adjusting the height of the hitch, or the position of the pinbox on the trailer, or both. If the trailer is not reasonably level, then the trailer needs to be raised on is suspension or the back of the truck lowered on its suspension. If the top of the tailgate is in the range of 57" to 58" from the ground with the truck empty, this is "normal". If this measurement is significantly greater than this, the truck has likely been "lifted" by some modification.

I had the same issue with my F250 2017. I ended up changing my pin box from the original to moyryde and it solved the issue. I am about 1/2 nose high. I also have plenty of clearance between the nose and bed rails. The original only gave me about 3-4 inches clearance.
