  • ProPride vs Weigh Safe vs Torklift

This is probably a question or comparison for those that have a bumper pull with greater than 1000+ lbs tongue weight. This looks to be mostly travel trailer 30+ Foot long and especially important to those with bumper pull toy haulers.

First, I believe all of these weight distribution hitches are very good products.
PP - has 20k total weight and 1400 lbs tongue weight. At a cost of $3200
WS - has 20k total weight and 2500 lbs tongue weight. At a cost of $1500
TL - has 30k total weight and 3000 lbs tongue weight. At a cost of $3000

These are expensive hitches for sure. But when you need strength…

Would love to get any input or comments from owners of these hitches as I make my next hitch purchase decision.

I do not own one of those hitches. My Reflection travel trailer has a tongue weight of up to 1,400 pounds. In addition, I carry a few hundred pounds of cargo behind the rear axle of the truck which also must be considered when selecting a hitch. I use a Blue Ox Sway Pro rated for 2,000 pounds (including 2K spring bars). I've used this combination for five years, and approximately 25,000 miles now. There is zero sway, good control in wind and when trucks are passing. I'm quite happy with it.

    Price: $779.

I have never needed anything other than the Reese dual cam I run on my cargo trailer/car hauler. Its long and tall, but I think its max weight is only 15k pounds total. If I was looking at spending that kind of money my first consideration would be a Hensley straight arrow.

Wandering weekends did a htich show down this month.

Granted, they have a 2800BH, so it's only around 700lbs tongue weight, but they discuss many things like build quaility. It's all subjective, but I found it informative.

ProPride is the Hensley - max weight ditto is only 1400#. That’s what I have and because I have such a heavy tongue weight it can’t put enough weigh back on the front wheel axle.

Thank you - Yes I did see this and his stunner test. I think we are ready to sell our ProPride and buy the Weigh Safe to get more weight distribution. Our tongue weight is 1780# and that’s without water, which we typically don’t tow because we stay in campgrounds 80% of the time.

Wow I didn't know that. That's a crazy amount of tongue weight for a bumper pull, I don't envy your situation. Outside the box, if one of the other hitches does not solve it a point bed truck might help. Increasing the wheelbase would change the physics of the tongue weight and have it taking less weight off the front. A drastic solution obviously, but just a thought.
