    In Ohio they are using more liquid options and pre-treat the roads where the mixture dries on the road before the snow falls. But those here that use road salt, the roads after a storm are white with salt. Over the top.

    I don't know all the fine details, but it was Calcium Chloride they were using. They did a two year pilot and bailed on it after the amount of complaints of rusting.

    Our city likes to pre-treat the road too before the snow comes down, followed by sanding and plowing the streets. The gravel on the road though does no favours to your windshield, the shops that do chip sealing must make a killing in the winter months...

      When we first moved to Michigan years ago, I could not believe all the gravel roads. The was my major beef on an otherwise wonderful state.

      The record was a broken windshield on a new car before its first oil change.

        Soooo...Ontario dirt is different than Alberta dirt....

              But your a GM fan correct. For Ford I have heard the 2022 order bank is closed (early). 2023 order bank will open in Aug if the rumor is correct. Right now Ford is working all of custom orders with dealer stock orders being delayed. Ford ran out of a lot of options like 5th wheel prep, spray in bed liners, in cab rapid heat, skid plates , bed step, etc, Even the up-fitter switches and LED head light options are not showing up on the order site now. I'm lucky mine got built as ordered.

              Per the dealer the delay is rail car availability going my direction. I sure hope that is correct.

                Rail cars are pulled by Diesel Electric locomotives. I guess Buffett decided fuel is too expensive to move things by rail..

                  Yes I am loyal to GM and I get a break. So I will need to start another thread perhaps. There are issues where the chip shortage has resulted in some features coming through with hardware installed but missing the module which would be installed when available. Define available. LOL. Items such as AFM on gas engines, heated seats, stop-start and so on.

                  I met the owner of my new local dealer in getting the oil changed in the DWs car and he offered to order one for me. He claims it would be my best chance in getting what I want.

                  And I want the new mid year updated Sierra with the new interior, 3.0L diesel with the new 13200 max tow.

                  I really wanted a Super Cruise truck so badly (drives itself with trailer) but I cannot justify an 80K half ton truck to get that feature.

                    Well its in Albuquerque (ABQ) NM waiting for a transport to Farmington NM. So maybe next week as there is a transport shortage. The good part is the dealer has 5 or 6 other trucks there (full load).. So hopefully "HAL" shows up in good shape. Fortunately the fires are not near there.

                              I just can't win. Dealer got 3 full loads of trucks in from ABQ and mine was not one of them. Of course with three loads thier prep department is now over loaded.

                              To add to this bummer - I have planned a bunch of 1 day trips to get the millage on before Alaska...but time will now be critical and cut into the packing and final planning. I was planning mid July, but now into August so I need to recheck Alaska weather for say mid Aug through September.
