  • Reflection 337RLS Trailer Height with 2nd A/C- my measurements

    The short answer is: 13' & 3"

I've looked up on the Internet and there are varying heights given for the Reflection 337RLS by owners and using different measuring methods. I thought I would validate what my camper height is when hitched and the fact we ordered the second A/C. GD states the Reflection height is 12' 6" but points out that this is with NO second A/C mounted on the front. I reflect on the train overpass height listed as 13' 6" going into Glacier Park entrance... a little pucker factor for sure given all the scrape marks!

Our Reflection 337RLS was delivered 3 weeks ago so is a 2022. It was parked on a level RV storage lot and hooked up to our Ram 3500, 18" wheels, B&W slider hitch, with air suspension. I was on the roof with a board that had the tape measure taped to it. Measuring straight down to the ground the side/ edge measurement against the camper was 145". The board was placed against the base of the A/C and using a level I adjusted the board height to account for the slope of the roof. I calculated about a 3 1/4" slope. So the height was 12' 1" vs. GD stated height of 12' 6". I'm sure their measurement accounted for differing hitch set-ups and assumed truck heights with some added safety margin.

Our unit has the Coleman 13.5 A/C and measured 14" in height from the base of the roof. It appeared the center of the unit represented the highest point for the entire camper. This gets us to the 13' 3". I then lowered the air suspension to see if that would provide some relief in case there is an overpass that is tight... the lowering of the bed only reduced the height by 1/2". So basically not much change.

Hope this provides some guidance for your Reflection 337RLS and certainly a different truck/ configuration will change things a little.

I have a 13ft 1 inch opening on my roll up door on the pole barn. We ordered our 337 without the front AC due to the tight clearance. Once we got it I added a vent cover to the bedroom vent and it clears just fine. After looking at the low profile Coleman Mach 10 13.5k I believe its actually lower than my current setup, I agree that the measurement\s are conservative. The last thing I wanted was to not be able to get ours into the barn. It saves a lot of work and winterizing for us.

If I remember correctly, It's recommended to use the low profile for the front A/C unit. I don't recall where I saw that but sticks in my mind.

        Hi Mike,
Is the 12'-1" measured to the top of the roof, behind the front A/C?
I'm guessing the spec. height w/o 2nd A/C, 12'-6" includes the vent cover that would otherwise be there. But I'm guessing.

I'm curious because I have a 2022 Reflection 303RLS on order and I am guess-timating the height with the 2nd A/C, which I assume will be the 14" tall one, not the 12" tall one. It should be the other way around.
I wish Grand Design would include the height with 2nd A/C in their specifications. Jayco does.

        Thanks,
        Chris

Chris- the measurement was assuming the roof to be flat for the 12' 1". As mentioned, I took the measurement to the edge of the roof and added 3 & 1/4" for the slope back to the a/c. The highest part of our roof came to about where the middle of the a/c was in terms of the a/c's length. So yes, if there is a vent cover in that position on the roof, it would add additional height. Good reminder for others to be aware of! I agree that use of a low profile a/c would have been preferred. Every lower inch counts! Enjoy your new 303RLS!

            I carry one of these
            https://www.truckntow.com/the-origin...extopia_search
Has come in handy for other uses too like checking clearances at a camp site and rescuing the odd toy from trees.. Shop around, they go on sale fairly often. There is a more compact version too, but the one I mention, fits inside and hangs on the pass through wall. You can also make a nesting one out of PVC pipe and fittings (no glue) specific for your trailer.

                Keith,

Those measuring sticks are tempting to get. I set up a price watch.

                Thanks,

I have a 2019 337 and a 2019 f350. The 337 has a front Coleman A/C, not low profile. I've measured several times, hooked up, & the answer is a consistent 13'3". My measuring process involves my wife & I, ladder, a 4' level, and a tape (of course). With the level level at the highest point on the A/C, I drop a tape and my wife reads it. 13'3" for my set up.
In my part of the world, Wisconsin, roof rakes are fairly common. An old roof rake of mine had a handle of 3 5' sections. I measured 13'3" on the sections & marked it with electricians tape. I carry the 3 sections in my front compartment. My measuring device isn't as handy as the one's on Amazon but mine didn't cost $160.
