  • Pullrite Superglide 2900 hitch/ Reflection 150 260RD What do I need?

Never owned a 5th wheel before, but getting ready to retire, so I put the Pullrite Superglide in my 2019 RAM diesel, 6.5' bed. I am making a deal on a 2021 GD 260RD about 700 miles away, hope to pick it up this week, and want to have the right hook up to tow when I arrive. My question is: What do I need to make this hitch and tow system work? Since we have a turning point on the hitch and the hitch box. I have been reading about a wedge, or something to stop one of the turning points. Can someone explain this to me, who is very new to this, in simple terms? Thank you!

So the turning point is already a rotating pin box. With the superglide, the rotating pin box MUST BE LOCKED STRAIGHT!!! Once the Locked Straight, you will need to ensure the wedge is locked into the head on the superglide as the wedge controls the slide. I suggest you get the dealer to throw in the necessary capture plate instead of using the generic wedge with the turning point to ensure minimal slop in the connection.

Here is a good explanation of the how the turning point works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFwsW9E7QwE Note at the 0:51 mark you can see the wedge. At the 2:58 mark those lock out bolts need to be installed to ensure that the turning point is locked out for use with a slider hitch as the Superglide.

Moderators may remove the link as it is by a different MFG.

Thank you Joseph. So, I am purchasing from a private party, who used an Anderson hitch. Should I purchase a wedge, and is there a specific type, before I get there to purchase the RV unit? Or, should there be a wedge on the pin box, like in the video? Sorry if this sounds elementary, but I am learning. Thank you

You can use the wedge on the pin box to start if he has it, but I would suggest getting the box specific capture plate as it takes a bit of the possible vertical movement out. I think the Pullrite head has an allowance for a capture plate built in. Less movement is always a better ride. Try to avoid the generic shimmed capture plate (i had one and the shims failed). They are relatively inexpensive to get the proper capture plate being under $200 for the right one from PullRite.

Ensure that the pin box has the lock out bolts installed those are very critical with an auto slider.

Do I need a wedge and capture plate? I think so for better control.
Does the wedge stop the pin box from turning, or does it stop the pullrite hitch from turning? Thank you.

The wedge stops the turning point pin box from turning, this is needed with a sliding hitch. If you allow the turning point to turn with a sliding hitch backing up may get real interesting with the hitch sliding and the turning point turning.

Mary i have the Pullrite Superglide 2914 and the 2021 Reflection 150 Series 295rl. This is similar arrangement to yours. You have to use the wedge attached to the 260RD PIN BOX.. It fits the Pullrite Superglide perfectly. There are videos on how it attaches to the pin box. Very Easy. Other capture plates you can purchase are too wide to fit the the 150 series Pin Box. I have had discussions with Pullrite directly to find out the exact attachment. They told he to use the wedge attached to the pin box. Call the owner and make sure the wedge is still attached to the pin box. If not call a Grand Design dealer and see if they have the wedge and the 2 bolts in stock. Take a torque wrench kit with you. You only need the wedge, not the capture plate.

Just to add and to make it simple. You take off the wedge attached to its temporary position. You attach it using the 2 bolts holding it in position (at the temporary location) to the 2 bolt holes near the pin. Pullrite is attached longer end closer to the pin about an inch away. Tighten it just enough so it does not move.. Then you hook up. Once hooked up you bang the wedge closer and tighter to the pin with a rubber hammer. Then you unhitch and torque the 2 bolts to 200 lbs. I outlined the shape of the wedge on the pin box using an oil based white sharpie pen. That way if it moves or you have to take it off you know exactly where it should be. I take the wedge and bolts off when I take it in for work at the dealership. When I go to pick up the trailer I take my torque wrench and put it back on in the same spot. Never had a problem

I did not realize they did not have a specific capture plate for the turning point.

Mary, the capture plate is the wedge plate for those pin boxes that do not have a mounting point for a wedge. So you would not use both a capture plate and the wedge on the turning point.

Link to capture plates for visual reference. Note the wedge welded to the plate (that is the bottom side). https://www.pullrite.com/products/su...capture_plates

Just as i side note, i run a superglide in my 2919 Ram 2500 Cummins with the 6.5" short bed and its a great setup pulling a 2022 28BH. I am going to leave the hitch in all season with a bed cover when not in use. When in use, I can leave the bed cover on and just fold up and clip when traveling. I have added a picture of the hitch with the cover closed.

                      A great setup..
