  • 2022 Ram 2500 6.4 bed, 2021 GD reflection 268Bh hitch?

I have a 2022 Ram 2500 6.4 bed with puck prep, need to find the right hitch for 2021 GD reflection 150 268BH. I do not want a Anderson hitch, I have been told with the turning point I do not need a slider but need a new wedge. Another dealer said he recommends a slider hitch even with the turning point, would I lock the box? New to this and until I get the hitch I cannot bring to a dealer to make sure it is level, safe, ETC
    Any suggestions?

Welcome to our owners technical forum. When you have a chance, have a look at our welcome post. https://gdrvowners.com/forum/main-fo...to-new-members . This will help you set up your signature and navigate the forum.

An auto slider hitch and a turning point hitch cannot be used together unless the turning point feature in the trailer pinbox is locked out. You could use a manual slider hitch with the turning point feature functioning . . . but there would be no need for the manual slider with the turning point. Everyone sees different advantages to their choice of hitch . . . there are pros and cons to each.

We have a PullRite SuperGlide 2300. Truck bed 6.6ft. Here are things to consider when getting that hitch: need a capture plate on king pin, you have to be almost straight on to hitch, not all repair shops / towing services can tow the RV with a capture plate, and hitch is very heavy #260 lbs (think payload). It sounds like we don’t like the hitch, but we really do and wouldn’t buy anything else. Have gotten the truck with RV to 90 degrees (sure we sweated a little) without any issue or coming close to the truck rear window.

One option I am looking at is a companion RVK3600 nonslider made for the Ram puck system, I was told I would need a new wedge for the turning point, does that sound right? Also because the dealer will need to install the hitch without the 5th wheel there will they be able to determine the correct height, ETC?

I use the RVK3600 B&W hitch. Awesome hitch. I also have a 6'4" bed. No issues. But I'm not familiar with the 'turning point'.

If you get the Pullrite Autoslide (like I did), you leave the turning point in the locked position and use the wedge attached at the back of the Turning point. Pullrite does not make a capture plate that fits the Turning Point pin box (which is not as wide as other pin boxes). They will tell you to use the wedge. I do not use the turning point as a rotating pin box because I didn`t want to lubricate the bearings on the Turning Point

That seems to be the debate, turning point or slider hitch? Any other other feedback from those pro or con either way?

I have a Sidewinder hitch setup on my trailer. The Sidewinder is the same thing as the turning point, just when Reese sells it not on a trailer, they change the name. I use it because I have a SB RAM. The sliding hitch, I believe is heavier, so that should be a consideration. For me, the Sidewinder puts more weight on my trailer, which increases my pin weight, which I need, otherwise, I would switch it out. I am not fond of the wedge system, as there will always be some kind of lateral movement no matter how tight you think the wedge is.

If the steepness of my driveway wasn't so bad, I would replace the factory gooseneck hole in my truck to a B&W one, use there 4" offset ball setup, and put a Gen-Y on my trailer.

With either an auto slider hitch or the turning point pin box, the truck is going to have to be carefully aligned with the trailer to hitch/unhitch (because of the wedge). I prefer a manual slider hitch (would require the pinbox to be locked and the wedge removed) because it suits my need to be able to hitch/unhitch at an angle. With the hitch in the aft position I also have much better access to the front compartment of the trailer and can leave the tailgate open while hitching (even at an angle). A manual slider hitch is usually considerably lighter than an auto slider. Several will say that throwing the lever to move the hitch when needed, is "too much trouble" . . . but, I have never found this to be a problem.

                    Just another opinion . . .

I think the turning point will allow the truck to hitch at any angle as the hitch retains it's orientation. With an auto slider, the hitch head rotates to stay in line with the trailer vs inline with the truck.

I am interested in the exact configuration of truck and RV.
I am looking to upgrade the truck from a Tundra SR5 to the Ram.

Have you had any issue with the height of truck relative to the RV. My dealer will not certify that it will work. He has said that the Ram 2500 rides about 6 inches higher than F150, 1500, etc
He said the RV would not ride level.

                        Thanks,

I also have a 2022 Ram 2500 4x4 short bed truck that rides high with stock tires and suspension. Here's a link to a thread I started that has a picture of the truck hitched to my Reflection 150 trailer. The trailer does ride slightly nose high but I think will be OK.
I have a GD Reflection 150 226RK and presently tow with a Dodge Ram 3500 4x2 long bed with a B&W Patriot 16K fixed hitch. To get to my usual boondocking site, I really need four wheel drive and I’m looking at a Ram 2500 short bed 4x4 with installed puck system. If I use the stock Lippert Turning Point as intended, that

I have a 2019Ram 2500 with the 5th wheel prep package and short bed. I swapped my pin box out for a Reese gen 2 goose box. No hitch in the bed to deal with or added weight of the hitch. Pulling a 2022 Reflection 311BHS.

I have a 2019 RAM 2500 Cummins with the short bed and factory pucks. I run the Pullright Superglide 2300. Love not having to worry about 90 degree turns if necessary. Have plenty of clearance between the truck bed and the RV front. Pulls great. There IS however a learning curve (at least for me) in the hitching and un-hitching process. The requirement to be perfectly straight (+- 10 degrees) takes practice. Once hitched, I love it. I leave in my bed all the time, and have a bed cover that fits (folded) when the coach is on. Pretty slick.
