  • LCI Customer Service - Straptek Tow Straps

I recieved my Straptek straps (from Amazon) and they were severely scratched and marred due to poor packaging. They'd probably work, but I wasn't happy paying full price for these damaged components. I emailed Lippert Customer Service with pictures of the straps and their box along with a copy of my Amazon order. Within one day they responded and said a new set was in the mail. WOW--that's customer service.

Yes, I have to send the damaged ones back.

I must say, after the LCI factory tour that I took in November, their outstanding LCI app, and now my personal experience with their customer service my opinion of LCI has done a 180 degree change. (Poor to good. So good I decided to buy their slide toppers when I'd eliminated them consideration previously!)

I'll report on the Straptek install in another thread when I get and install them. Edit: See this thread for that report: https://gdrvowners.com/towing-and-hi...st-impressions

These are the "new" ones I received from Amazon:

I also thought the worst of LCI but after I got my disc brake install from them at the GD rally in 2018, have also changed my mind about them. I go to Indiana every summer to visit family so started using their small shop in Goshen for brake and wheel bearing service. I make the appointment and they have me out within a few hours not days. They document each phase of the service with photographs and diagnostics. Pricing is comparable to going to local dealer. When my hanger sheared off recently, they were constantly in communication with me and reimbursed me fully for the repair.

Now, I still don’t know where the design problems lay in regards to frame failures. Who to believe? While there, I saw a few Heartland and Redwood RV’s in for frame repairs. I asked why they manufactured frames that were going to fail? One of the techs said they were fixing them because manufacturer was not stepping up and LCI designs according to specs sent to them from the RV manufacturer. They told that manufacturer that it was not adequate but they moved forward on the order. Another example of who to blame, I wanted them to adjust my heavy slide with the issue at middle roller gouging floor. They checked it out and all was good with alignment. They said, box and rollers are not their design or manufacture, they only provide the motors and rails that the box is built on by the manufacturer. Luckily, GD is working with me on that issue unlike the unlucky customers of those units I saw there.

I received the new straps today, they are fine but the box was trashed. I sent LCI a picture--they need to use a sturdier box.

Triplethreat -- what are the bolts for that I've circled? I can't find a reference in the directions outside of potentially item A, part# 335047? The first set came with four bolts, the replacement came with two. How many do I need and why? (I sent an email to LCI just in case you don't know either!) The installation PDF is here https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws...cd_0001723.pdf should anyone else want to look.

Must be reoccurring problem. I picked up a set from Amazon Warehouse for $60.17 because of the poor packaging. A little rattle can paint and it was good to go.

I agree that their customer service is top notch. Now if they would hire some good welders I'd be really impressed.

            Hi Howard,

What WDH system are you using these on. I looked them up and look interesting but I have a Reese Straightline hitch system and not sure if these would work with that or not. Seems much easier than the chains and snap up brackets as long as the sun doesn't rot the straps.

I have the Blue Ox system. I'll provide feedback after install. Edit: Feedback here: https://gdrvowners.com/towing-and-hi...st-impressions

I got an answer from LCI on the bolts. Here's a shortened portion of their response:

These are for the two different frame styles. ... The longer bolts are for the C channel application and the shorter are used for the tube frame.

They are going to update the installation document to reflect this information.

Now somebody explain to me the difference between a C frame and a tube frame since I have no idea.

A "C" frame is shaped like a "C" , also called C-channel. This will be just like your tube frame on your 315 but with out one side of the tube , one long side will be missing, capiche?
