The Renogy DC to DC is easy enough to connect to a switched signal, if you did not have upfitters you could figure something out.

Also David (@wondersawait) added his GM upfitters himself since his truck did not come with them, I feel like he said it was an easy enough install.

I also have the DC-DC charger set up wired to an up-fitter switch and it works well. Trigger is from trailer lights. I have the 60A Renogy, currently limited to 30 for testing. My install is here https://gdrvowners.com/forum/operati...harger-project Long thread, but install is towards the end.

There are a lot of reasons that you will like your B&W slider hitch (particularly with a Ford) beyond just cab to trailer clearance. See post #49.

Great thread. I love the truck debate being a car restorer and auto enthusiast. I ordered a new 2022 Sierra AT4 Crew Long Bed Duramax 3500 last March. Took 8.5 weeks to get here. It's the new Pacific Blue color. I've been yanking my 40' 16K lb Montana all over CO and MT this summer and the truck is a beast. The ride is so much more comfortable than my friends new Ford and Dodge trucks plus I don't have to deal with the death wobble on those straight front axles. Interior noise is minimal and the power and towing brute force is amazing with the new Allison 10-speed. Love this truck to pieces. The interior is cool with the AT4 stitching and accents and I have totally fallen in love with the multi-pro tailgate. I didn't know if I would like it but now I love it.

Last week I traded in the Montana and am now a new owner and GD fan of the 2022 Reflection 303RLS. My truck just laughs at the weight and size of this camper after pulling the Montana through the CO mountains and up Teton Pass. As far as the screen debate....that always makes me smile. The screen size is perfect for me to see the Navigation and my radio stations......I'm not watching a movie in the truck while driving. Lol. I'd rather have the other features than digital dashes and other very complex features that malfunction like I've seen in my friend's trucks. Give me something that works like crazy, is comfortable to ride in, and looks good while doing it!

I ordered it with all the towing bells and whistles. It has the 2" lift kit and the oversized 20" wheels and tires. It also has the GM AT4 spray in liner, all the cameras, and the off-road package.

I'm staying in half ton land where GM has not begun to make the double cabs so far. Pacific Blue is a great color and the dirty max (as we called them) is a great engine. Follow the manual and treat it right and you will be happy. Check out this engineer that makes a living through a business hauling RVs. Just imagine how many battery packs this fellow would have purchased in an EV version of these HD trucks.

Have you made a decision yet? Ford has really upped the game with the 2023. The order bank should be open soon.

            Lots of other videos.

BTW the cargo capacity of my SRW F350 CC long bed King ranch is 4026 lbs

I think there is another thread on the features here somewhere.

bellis find a medium duty GM dealer and take a look at the Silverado 4500. It is a true medium duty truck, with a (compared to the 3500) detuned duramax rated at 350 hp and 700 torque. Will run many more miles than a higher rated engine when properly cared for. At this level, there is no leather or moonroof or gadget electronics. But they come as a crew cab, have rear air ride available, and will turn much tighter than a 3500. 4X4 is an option. They are priced quite a bit less than say a loaded Denali DRW. You would need to add some sort of bed as they all come ready for a bed rather than with one.

              Choices, choices.

Well - have held off ordering so far. I have looked in person and driven some GMC's....I was waiting for Ford to release some specs on the 2023 and watched their launch.

If I go by the numbers...I think the F350 is going to win. Please note - not really looking at the lower trim packages....at those levels maybe the trucks are more comparable? Maybe not.

Still researching - but so far it is probably something like this.

                  1. Ford F350 - maybe the new high output diesal.
                  2. GMC 3500
                  3. Dodge/Chevy 3500

COReflection - I get it and I agree...but sometimes those bells and whistles end up being safety feature or just very functional. The only reason I like the bigger screen is for camera use and possibly camera use while Navigation or something else is still on the screen.

There are some thing I really liked about the GMC, and it may have been closer to the Ford before Ford's announcement. I haven't seen much/anything about the 2023's for GMC.

I may hold off ordering till January. Hoping to have more access to the data soon.

bellis GM purposefully released the Chevrolet stuff before the Ford announcement. People love and hate all 3 of the US truck MFG. I'm on my 4th GM. I hear good things about all of them, but it's the interior comfort that gets me. Ford seats in all trim levels just seemed Hard. Thus far the best seats have been in my 2004 GM with CLOTH. Seems the leather seats are just not as comfortable.

The new 10 speeds make a huge difference. Allison trans do a better job of getting it to the ground, and GM tweaked the tuning on the new L5P's to provide better low RPM torque and HP for both towing and daily driving due to the change in the rear differential ratios.

I will have to try to get into more seats. It's a challenge with most sales being orders and trucks not sitting on lots.

I agree the 10 speed is going to be a game changer. I currently am in a 6 speed.

If the leather is listed as "Appointed" the seat will be a combination of leather (in the center) and vinyl on the bolsters. If I see this language on my next order, I'll go with cloth. The leather appointed seats in my GMC All Terrain are comfortable and look great, but I payed for all leather like I had in my 2008 LTZ.

The GM 10 speed trans is not torque limited. So full torque at launch. Also many of GMs features are being emulated such as the step in side and bumpers, invisible trailer, etc. The new interior is worth waiting for IMO.

Interesting that Joseph should mention seat comfort as a reason for preferring GM. Both my wife and I prefer the Ford seats. First our 2014 F150 and now our new F350. Agreed that the Ford seats are firmer, but this is a good thing on a long drive (in my opinion).

It is difficult to get "seat time" in a dealer demo vehicle . . . there just are not any to be found . We reached out to friends with nearly new GM and Ford heavy duty trucks and were able to borrow their trucks for a few hours to confirm our preference.

I tried really hard to buy a GM truck (for reasons that many here know) but the Ford kept winning out on the comparisons. In retrospect, the 8" difference in hitch location to open tailgate dimension (which I did not realize at the time) might have convinced me otherwise.

Like Rob I found the Ford seat fit me better....but I am a short round person, so finding any seat that fits me is a challenge. My biggest issue is where the lumbar is in the seat. GM/Chevy/Dodge were all to high in my back.. I always liked cloth seat as you don sweat in them. Same was true of the leather in my 04. But this new truck has ventilated 10 way seats that are fantastic. You can blow heated or cooled air through them (3 speeds). I don't know if the other brands have this.

                            Just my 02

I rode in a friends F150 where the bolsters must have been fitted for a 125lb engineer where the seats were far too tight. I'm 5'-10" @ 195lbs and not that big. Ok maybe I am since this is technically obese. When at GM I always stated seats should be available in difference sizes and for specific purposes. The C6 corvette seats were always baulked at by the 125lb magazine writers due to not enough bolster but I liked them.

Well that's why there are lots of truck brands and packages to choose from. My neighbor with a relatively new Ford dually would tell you otherwise about the screen and the alleged safety features. His truck has been in the shop more than he's been able to tow with it. The electronic dash and screens have given him so much trouble...Ford said they were out of options. They told him to "reboot" the truck while he was going down the road pulling his 44' 22K lb fifth wheel. He told me the story and I just shook my head. I'll keep my analog looking digital gages and smaller screen. Last week he just returned from the dealer with a $12K bill for resealing some oil leaks on his Power Stroke...something about the front crank seal. I can pass on his name and number. He is now selling a nice pretty new Platinum dually crew with a Jayco Pinnacle fifth wheel. He's tired of all the troubles with both. He's making a killer deal of like $100K I think for both. I have also ridden in it many times.....and I am one who loves the comfort and seating positions of the GM trucks.
