We purchased our rig, brought it home and began loading it up for a huge family trip the next day. The shwintek slide malfunctioned and General RV immediately sent a tech out to the house the same day.
I've had them perform service under warranty and for the most part it was quality work and at a reasonable turn around of two weeks each time. Even when I was dying from heart cancer, they took care of me. I cannot say enough to praise General RV for their service and quality of work.
I hope you have an equal experience, aside from the cancer part. Lol.

I bought my used rig from Camping World.

It was somewhere in the middle in terms of experience.

I was given a 45 minute demonstration, which I used to complete my own PDI. The demonstrator (who was just one of the RV techs) was more than happy to answer my questions after we ran thru the initial "this is how ..," section of his spiel. (This is how you put up the antenna, this is how you....)

Found couple of minor issues (Cosmetic stuff), one fairly major issue (Leaking pipe). They wrote it down on the delivery sheet, and "fixed" them while I was signing paperwork. I used quotes on fixed because the pipe leak required a return trip since it wasn't fixed, but since it was on the delivery sheet, they covered it at no cost.

The big miss. I didn't inspect the roof. No ladder was provided (Unit did not have permanent ladder mounted). I in passing said I wish I had a ladder to look and Inspection guy said he didn't have one. I did not push this harder. Sales person stated they cleaned the roof, stripped all old caulk, and re-caulked the roof.

After I signed paperwork, I found that there were small delamination area's. (Again, a miss on my part)

Two months later when I finally bought a ladder and inspected the roof, I found they did as they said. BUT, they didn't not do this for the perimeter of the roof. That caulking was still factory original, and was cracked. The crack was over the delaminating area. Fixed that quickly.
      • Moral of the story. Do YOUR PDI. Call EVERYTHING out you feel is wrong, or even just inconsistent. Make sure they write it down on their paperwork. Maybe get a "rider" on the paperwork they have you sign if you have no other option. (A statement that any items identified during PDI will be fixed to mutual satisfaction, and have both parties initial it)

As for General RV, I've been following a bunch of Youtubers while killing time. MOST of them have bought from General RV. One of the drove from Florida to Ohio in a snowstorm just to buy from them. That's a pretty good brand loyalty.

We too used Campers Inn in Byron Ga. for our 22MLE.They came highly recommended from several owners we knew. A most pleasant experience and no paperwork completed until we felt comfortable with the purchase.

That's where I purchased, too! Salesman wanted to talk more about airplanes than campers...lol. Glad to hear your recent experience matched my excellent (though somewhat now dated) experience.

I used your checklist from earlier in the thread to build my own checklist for my delivery Tuesday. Your final line is the Weight Sheet. Is there an exmple somewhere of how that is formatted for quick finding in the packet? Also is there any other documentation I should be on the lookout for in that packet?

GD has changed how they deliver the information many times since I took delivery of my '19 315RLTS.

-- can you elaborate on GD's process for delivering information about a new Transcend? jwhigham is getting a 297QB and wants to know what to expect from the dealer.

howson jwhigham We do not have a “blank” sheet. This is something that should be in their black bag… and it will have the VIN, the dry weight, (UVW) axle weight, side to side weight, etc. All of the info from when it rolled over the scales before it left GDRV

Thanks, Brittany. I seem to remember GD trying an electronic version of the "black bag". I (personally) like the black bag and having all the documentation inside. I've still got mine.
