  • Newbie Picking up my 2020 2800BH next week

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to RVing after buying an older travel trailer last year to see if I'd like the "lifestyle" and had a couple of questions for those who already own these gorgeous trailers.

I'm located in Vancouver Canada, I'm paying roughly 42k + taxes and fees. Is this considered a good deal?

Are they going to try and pressure me into buying an extended warranty like they do with car purchases? Either way, is it worth buying and why? I maybe take my trailer out 6-7 times a year and use it very lightly.

I don't completely understand how a power inverter works but I would like to run 110 for charging phones, cameras etc. What should I be looking for?

Also, I've read a few forums about bike racks on rear bumpers, should I or shouldn't I?

What are the best/most useful accessories you have added to your trailer? Please share them all!!!

I had my batteries stolen off my last trailer and it seems very few battery box manufactures add locks..

Thank you all for your help!!!

I can only speak to the pricing in Ontario. That unit can be had for $38,000 CDN + taxes and fees. I am a nonbeliever in extended warranties but that is just me. As for the rear bumper rack for a bike. I would be a definite no on that. Spend the money and get a proper 2” receiver welded on the trailer and you will have a secure rack mount for worry free travel.
Enjoy the new trailer and be safe

Welcome to the Canadian contingent on this forum . . . there are quite a few of us here.
When you get a chance, please fill out your "signature block".

A lot of the difference in price between BC and Ontario is the shipping. These trailers are hauled one-by-one across the continent. Compare the 8 hour tow from the factory to an Ontario dealer with the several days it takes, there and back, to deliver a trailer to Vancouver.

An extended warranty will seem like a waste in the early years where Grand Design is good at covering problems. But . . . five years or so down the road, if you need a new fridge and/or an AC . . . that warranty might seem like a good deal.

I would agree withgarymeyer , a bicycle rack attached to a trailer bumper is a bad idea from the get-go.

There are lots of discussions on this forum about inverters and just about any other upgrade or accessory that you can think of. Use the search tool in the upper right corner and have a look around.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions that come to mind . . .
