  • Fifth Wheel Weight?

I am confused with Cat Scale tickets. I would really like to finally nip this weigh stuff in the butt. I think I am close to understanding it.

I have weighted at the Cat Scale 3x.

    First: Truck only
    Steer Axle 4920
    Drive Axle 3740
    Trailer Axle 0
    Gross 8660

Second: Truck and camper after initial pickup, empty camper. on the drive home.
    Steer Axle 4940
    Drive Axle 6020
    Trailer Axle 9000
    Gross 19960

Third: After loading "permanent i cargo" that we just keep in the camper and then we load trip cargo when leaving for trips
    Steer Axle 4940
    Drive Axle 6300
    Trailer Axle 9440
    Gross 20680

My goal is to figure my camper weight with permanent items and simply weigh trip cargo each time we tow.
I read articles about the Cat Scales and the articles indicate the trailer axle is my camper weight. That is incorrect because my published empty weight is roughly 11708 per GD. Is this difference because of the weight on the rear axle of the truck? When I use original drive axle weight and subtract it from drive axle weight on 3rd weigh in I calculate 6300-3740=2560. I believe 2560 is my pin weight on the hitch.

Is the true trailer weight the pin weight and trailer axle weight combined? IE- 9440+2560=12000 lb

When I subtract Gross 1 from Gross 3, I calculate 20680-8660=12020 lb (below GVWR 13995)

I calculate my added "permanent cargo" at 20680-19960=720 lb

The resulting numbers seem to be in line with GD published info as a starting point. Does this seem accurate or am I off the mark with this. The info out there is confusing to me and I want to make sure I understand and am calculating correctly.

    Thanks for any input.

I agree with Brian. Your calculated the numbers accurately.
