  • Uni Pass Transponder

Has anyone switched to the Uni Pass transponder for use on the various states toll roads?
How has it worked for you?
    Pluses and minuses to consider?
Right now on my windshield are both the ipass and sunpass, i'd like to replace them with 1 device.
Thanks for any input you can offer.

Chad and Tara recently discussed this?

It was there I first heard of the Uni Pass. Now I'd like some additional real world experiences.

        Short Primer:

EZ-Pass was New York / New Jersey / Penn's transponder system. They have 80% of the toll roads in the US. Since they were so big, other state's/authorities started joining the "network" and now they are up to 19 states.

Most states did electronic tolling by State level.

But Not Florida. No. Nope, no siree, bob.

Florida did it by Region, and has no less than 7 different transponder systems out there. Not all of them are compatible.

UNI Pass is florida's attempt to fix this, and they have joined EZ-pass. So Uni-pass get's *most* of lforida. (But Not all), plus EZ-pass.

In the future, Florida has committed to converting all systems to EZ-Pass compatible, but it will take years.

Really like having the EZPass. I no longer recall how this pass is registered in states other than Ohio, but my EZPass had to be registered for every vehicle and trailer I own. In my case, two vehicles and two trailers. Some states allow multiple vehicles and some do not. Some have zero fees as well, so its best to look up the requirements from each state to see which one meets your needs.
