Just my two cents on the Credit Card issue - If you have veteran status you might want to get a CC through one of the service Credit Unions. I have a Visa through Navy Federal. 1.5% (or better) cash back rewards. While I haven't been to Canada with it (yet), I used it in Ireland a few times in 2019, and when we spent three weeks in Iceland last year we used it exclusively (did not bring any currency with us).
