  • 2018 Imagine 2800BH front cap gel coat stress cracks

Unfortunately guys I just noticed another problem with my exterior walls, the front cap has cracks all over the place, i just cant believe that this is happening after 4 years of just weekend trips, usually 2 to 3 trips per year. I will upload photos soon.

Keep an eye out guys, you will notice them more on the black.

Let me know if anyone else has noticed stress cracks on their front caps, and what you guys did to fix the problem.

    Thank you so much everyone.

That looks like the sticker or paint is cracked. They are vinyl stickers I believe.

I have similar cracks in the front cap of our trailer. They are not as pronounced as yours, but on mine they appear to be in the vinyl cover.

We have a 2021 Imagine 2670MK with the same front cap. I am not an expert but after inspecting mine, my guess is that it is a Gelcoat "paint" on a fiberglass substrate. I have a couple of minor crazes near the top. I don't have a picture of mine, but have included an image to show the effect.

In my opinion, your situation looks like a failure of the Gelcoat and not the Fiberglass (RFP) substrate which should be good news. In either instance it can be repaired if GD is unwilling to replace. These types of failures are very common on boats. Depending on your proximity to lakes and marinas, you might be able to find a fiberglass repair specialist. They will be qualified to do both fiberglass and gelcoat.

Sorry to hear you have this challenge, but you might take this opportunity(failure) to have a little fun. In either case if you decide to repair, the new gelcoat can be any color you choose. This will make your unit very special indeed.
