Installing hanging light above kitchen island

I have a 2017 295RL Refection and was wondering if anyone had installed hanging lights over the kitchen island? Any information is greatly appreciated

Hi pnwguy,

The Reflections have lights over the island, but the Reflection 150 does not. These are fastened to a box that is then fastened to the ceiling. Above that box it would be easy to open a hole in the ceiling to access wiring. Running wires to a separate switch would be more complicated but wiring the pendants to be on with the other ceiling lights would be relatively easy. You might be able to find this box and lights from a similar vintage Reflection through an RV salvage outfit . . . but, probably easier to fabricate (or have someone build) something similar.

I guess you could order the light box from GD. More than likely it's that large to allow for sufficient mounting points to support the lights (OK, I'm laughing as I type that).

Great picture. One more question, what is securing it the ceiling. Is some sort of studs in that area. Thanks. On a side note, I have enjoyed reading the various posts and am getting a ton of ideas.

There is a tapered frame fastened to the ceiling trusses and the light "box" fits over this with screws from the sides. I wonder if the ceiling slope is the same on a 150 Series Reflection as on a regular Reflection? (The tapered frame adapts the sloped ceiling to level for the light box.)

I found some pictures from when I had ours pulled (several years ago . . . took some looking to find the pictures )
