  • Bug screen for kitchen vent (exterior) - Options and opinions

First...feel free to place this in the right area...this is kinda appliances, kinda exterior....
With warmer weather comes bugs and the wasps are trying to find a home.
I have found two in the coach in the past two days.
I believe they are getting in via the kitchen vent flapping in the breeze. I have closed and locked the exterior vent.
However, the exterior vent is about 10 feet in the air and hard to reach without a boost.
The one on the coach looks like a Ventline V-2111-5 in black.
Putting something on the outside makes it difficult to lock and unlock the vent.
An option is to remove the exterior portion of the vent. Put window screen over the throat and reinstall.

I did not see an option on-line similar to the furnace covers.

What solutions have you come up with or another place to look for a solution?

    Thanks.

I would want to keep the "flapper" in place to secure shut when traveling, especially in the rain to avoid getting road spray inside the vent. Placing window screen inside that vent may be the best option if it is doable. I agree with the vent being high off the ground and usually in a unreachable position, TT's are much better for this.

      Thanks for the reply.
I think placing the screen on the part that is inside the wall is doable.
Won't know until i get up there and look.
Guess I will add that to the list of "upgrades"!
