  • winterizing electronics (TV & outdoor speakers)

Hello. While preparing for winter I was wondering if there is anything that should or could be done to protect the outside speakers for my unit... Imagine 2450RL. I like the quality of the outdoor speakers and would like to preserve them. Would it also be wise to remove the TV from the unit for the winter.... we see -30 degree c weather up here in Canada? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You.

Although SE Michigan does not receive anything close to those cold temps, I've never done anything with the electronics when storing the camper over Winter. Check the individual owner manuals or contact the manufacturer through their websites if you have questions.

I suspect all these RVs sitting in dealer lots and RV manufacturers in IN do not remove or do anything to keep the electronics from cold or severe cold. I do not recall any GDRV owners manuals stating to do so either.

This said, in the early build GDRVs, (I suspect other manufactures as well) we did find that some TVs were not surviving severe cold. In researching this 7 seasons ago, a number of we owners learned that some early build LED TV brands/models were not designed for cold weather. These RVs did fail for a number of us and as usual, GDRV stepped up and replaced our TVs at no charge even post one year warranty.

In NW Indiana, Porter County to be exact, we don't do anything special to our speakers or tv/stereos. The FURRION brand has been tested to hot/cold extremes.
