After watching a review on Ray’s love your RV I decided to contact this small company in Florida. They make a 20 amp soft starter that is perfect to pair with a small 2000-2500 watt generator. The price is $279 which is about what a soft start costs and you still have to install it, Anyone hear anything about this product?

Clever idea. Guessing that it would sense the load of the AC unit and trigger a built in CAP? This would allow us to run the generator in eco (throttle down) mode.

      Beachcamper -- definitely interesting.

I think there was mention of a similar setup a while back.

Quick search for "RV PLUG IN SOFT START" came up with:

        https://www.rvtravel.com/rv-electric...rtup-rvt-1060/ mfg site https://smarterrvs.com/products/soft...your-entire-rv

I think this may be the one that was brought up a while back.

" Its 20 amp rating allows for your AC to run along with other small appliances not exceeding 20 amps" this taken from the website offers a little confusion. With this item plugged inline with the shore power cord would limit the amp usage to 20 amps for the whole RV?

Yes, it’s basically for small generators or household. He has a 30 amp model and is working on a 50 amp.

Yes, this is for the soft start brand which is different in the sense that Active Start offers the 20 amp for the smaller generators and less than $300. I basically want a way to run one AC in an emergency situation (hurricane cleanup, power outages, etc) off of my 2500 watt generator. I don’t boondock much and when I do, it won’t be in hot weather. So for the price of a soft start hardwired to the AC I can get this and use it not only for this RV but also on another unit.
