  • LED accent lighting 377MBS

The LED strips that provide accent lighting on the island and hutch had yellowed.

Turned out it was not the LEDs themselves for the most part, but the rubber coating over them. I peeled the coating away, revealing mostly warm white LEDs.

Where the LED strip starts to peel away from the counter, it can be stuck back in place. It mostly stayed put. A little tricky to remove the rubber - I let the LEDs warm up the strip for a few minutes, then used both hands to remove slowly. One hand pulling some tension on the rubber, the other rolling it off the backing. If I just pulled the rubber, it would break, and I'd have to peel up another section.

Really thought I'd have to replace these, but I think they look alright now. Was toying with going to blue, but I think warm white works in here.

Tried this on the outside belly lights with good results. They are protected by a plastic sheath, in addition to this rubber coating. We'll see how long they last. At least for now they are warm white again.

I am not sure how the outside ones will last without the protective cover, I would guess they will not like water.

Agreed. If they die, I will replace them with an outdoor rated set. At least they are not yellow anymore. Wondered if the plastic sheath they are tucked in would be enough, or if condensation might still occur inside there and corrode the strip.
