  • Furnace duct in reflection 337

    HI
I have a 2020 reflection 337RLS , I removed the bottom cover of the unit so I could fix a holding tank valve. I noticed the furnace had two open ports in the duct work below the floor. I could not find any loose duct work. So my question is should the duct work be open to the underside ?

    Hi Mark,

Welcome to our owners technical forum. Typically there is a 2” flexible ductwork leading into the underbelly to keep this area warm in sub-freezing temperatures. Sometime this duct ends in a sheet metal Tee and sometimes it is not connected to anything. Post a picture if you would like further confirmation.

Your picture is “as expected” underbelly heating ductwork. You can close these off, but this is the only means of keeping the underbelly warm in sub-freezing weather. If you need to run the furnace, you may quite likely need some heat in the plumbing area. Why would you want to close these off?

While you are under there you may want to straighten some of the duct work, or even shorten it, check for kinks or places where it may be crushed. I found a few of these in mine.
