Last season a rust streak developed on the shower wall. Water was collecting in the bottom of the shower assembly. The bottom “shell” can be slid out horizontally, and exposed a rusting screw. I have replaced both screws with stainless steel screws from Ace Hardware nearby, including some silicone sealant around the screw head to prevent water from following the screw into the wood behind the shower wall.
In addition, I used a small file to make a “notch” in the “shell” to allow trapped water to escape. Hopefully this will prevent the problem from happening again, now that water can drain out the bottom. See photos.
