Put water in today for first time, water leaking from the back/under it.

Please provide year and model of your rig. You need to access the back of your WH and inspect the plumbing fittings to determine where the leak is and make adjustments and or repairs. It could be a loose soft hose connection or fitting that needs to be tightened. Also if your rig is not winterized properly and it was exposed to freezing temperatures it could be a split tube in the heat exchanger.
