  • slide issues - gaps

currently have a GD solitude 3460fl, purchased March 2023 and having an issue with 2 slides, where there is gaps when opened. This involves the 2 front slides in the living space. on right side and the rear side other slide is flush with the wall, but the front end there is a gap, where you can put your fingers in. on the left side, both end have gaps. when raining out, water comes in and get on the floor.
It appears the slide need adjustments.
Is this a known issue with gaps on these slides?

    Thank you.

The slides in the front living room of your model are Schwintek slides or in wall slides. These slides do not have any adjustments that can be made after installation. The way to operate these types of slides is when extending hold the switch for a count of 5, same when retracting, this helps keep the 2 actuating motors in sync, there are 1 on each side of the slide box. If one side is going out or coming in further or less than the other that means the motors are out of sync. The way to resync the motors is to extend the slide about 6 inches and stop and retract the slide until it stops. If I remember correctly this is to be done 4 or 5 times. After the last retract run the slide out completely and the 2 sides should match. Before doing all of that you may want to measure from the side wall of the RV to the flange on the slide of the slide box when fully extended, do this on both sides and compare. If the measurements are off the same amount as what you are seeing inside then do the sync method described above. If the measurements are the same then there may be another issue.

Given the purchase date, might be worth looking into the Schwintek TSB if there was an improper installation issue.

Good point and definitely worth looking into.

We had a similar experience when we took delivery of our 2022 2670mk. We had constant issues with the schwintek slide. One side advanced before the other and would also leave a gap on one side. We would constantly perform the sync multiple times per extension and retraction. It was very frustrating and would involve 5 minutes just to move the slide in or out and then we would have a gap on one side. Turns out it wasn’t the motors being out of sync, the sides were not square. So the gear spurs on one side and specifically the lower rack, were not the same distance as the gear rack as the other side.
The technician described it as, “one side may have skipped into the next slot on the gear rack”. Luckily we got it taken care of. I no longer curse the schwintek slide and can move the slide in either direction in less than 30 seconds.
