  • Brake pad replacement

We have the MORRyde IS system with Kodiak disk brakes. (Installed by MORRyde in Indiana) Love them! We recently took the coach to. MORRyde authorized dealer for a bearing repack and suspension check.
They determined we needed new brake pads plus a few other things.
After the work was completed we picked up the coach & headed home. We had NO trailer brakes.
returned to the dealer & they noted the problem existed but claimed ALL they did was replace the pads and the problem must be in the truck wiring.
Note: when we drove to the dealer the first time the trailer brakes worked just fine.
Anybody have any ideas what might be wrong?

I do not have disk brakes, but since they replaced the pads, I'd start with opening the compartment with where the pump is and verify that the pump is working and has fluid. You may want to turn the gain to full on the controller while doing this.

Once fluid and pump activity are confirmed, you may need to manually operate the brake lever in the truck a lot of times to pre set the caliper pistons. Replacing hydraulic brakes requires forcing all of the fluid out of the caliper back into the reservoir to gain enough clearance for removal of the pads and installation of the new ones.

If there is no pump activity, start with the simple checks - power to the hydraulic system in the camper and power to the blue wire from the truck. Simply removing and resetting the plug in the truck may work. When you pull the plug out, LOOK down in it to verify that all of the "lugs" are properly aligned and will make content when pushed into the truck (don't ask how or why), also look into the receptical on the truck for the same thing. Anything out of place will create headaches.

Don't forget to check the lights on the unit (this is to possibly see if there is a grounding issue), and check the ground.

After all of that if / when you find the issue, please post.

As Joseph said, see if the pump is working.

      (1) With the trailer connected to the truck and the truck running, have someone step on the brake pedal or manually activate the brake controller. Have another person stand near the brake pump that's on the trailer is there noise from a running pump?

      (2) If there is no noise, with the trailer unplugged from the truck, pull the trailer brake breakaway cable/switch to activate the trailer brakes. Is there a noise from the trailer brake pump running in this situation? (Be sure to put the breakaway switch back together after 30 seconds or so so that the brake pump does not get overheated and the trailer battery does not run down)

Let us know what comes out of these 2 tests.
