  • Yakima NX16 Skybox (First Impression)

Hard to believe but the truck just doesn't have enough cargo space, so I've added a Yakima NX16 Skybox. Very pleased with the look of the box (finish) and the length. I considered going with the 18 model, but the 16 looks great and since it weighs less I can put more in it before reaching the 165lbs maximum limit (all sizes have that maximum weight limit).

Yes, the box is quite high but fully accessible when standing on inside edge of the truck (next to the seat). Items going in the box will be small and light, so no worries about lifting heavy or bulky objects that high. The Skybox opens from both sides (one side at a time).

Yes, it blocks some of the skylight...but don't use that, anyway.

A bit pricey for 165lbs of storage (sigh) but will be nice to have this new option. Kit specific to my '17 Ford F-350 SuperDuty below (from etrailer.com).

That is quite the price for the extra storage. I think you need to graduate to a loooong toy hauler.

lol...not when they're $125K (list) and up. Then I'd have to reaccomplish all the mods I've done to my 315RLTS...not a chance. I'll pay a bit for quality kit (once) that will (hopefully) last for the rest of my RV'ing days.

Looks pretty sharp! I've had my Yakima towers and crossbars for 30 yrs with an assortment of pods, bike mounts and canoe/kayak cradles along the way. Sometimes you do get what you pay for.
