  • Relay clicking noice - connecting to tow vehicle/no lights

    Hi,
We have a 2023 GD Imagine 22MLE. Went to connect tow vehicle and plug was damp/corroded. Dried out and cleaned but now when connecting to tow vehicle, have no lights on trailer and there is a clicking noise coming from what looks like a relay mounted next to the junction box. Any ideas what my problem may be and how to fix?
    Thanks!

There's likely a short in the 7-pin cable. (A "short", per DuckDuckGo, is an electrical circuit that allows a current to travel along an unintended path).

Easiest way to find it is to use a multimeter to ohm out the cable. Best cleaner to use (per Mike Sokol, an electrical guru) is Deoxit. https://www.amazon.com/DeoxIT-D5S-6-.../dp/B0002BBV4G

Thanks Howard. That makes sense as the plug did get corroded. I’ll try cleaning the plug with a cleaner and see if that solves the issue.

That clicking you heard is most likely a self-resetting circuit breaker. The "click" is when the breaker opens (due to the short). When it cools the breaker closes, but if the short still exists it will again open up.

Mike Sokol (who I mentioned earlier) has a series of articles on how to diagnose (find) a short circuit. It starts here: https://rvelectricity.substack.com/p...-circuits-part
