With our previous TT I had the chain model. From all of the discussions on hitches that I have read I think the chain model is easiest. I would set the trailer down on the ball and then hook the chains where they needed to be. It was also easy to adjust on the fly, which I have done on the road. Just another opinion.

I found when we had the bumper pull that if I actually pulled the truck up a little (when I noticed the truck start sagging, lifted off the ball about 1/4-1/2") it was a lot easier than if the truck was sagging.

Likewise disconnecting was similar, if I got the ball height just about right where the truck was dropping about 1/4" or so it was the easiest to release the chains.

I just got back from a 3500 mile trip and the heavier (1500 lb) weight bars worked great. Yes I had to raise the back of the truck but not to the extreme that I had to before. I also added a zip tie to the link to show which link to lock on for quicker setup.
