In November we purchased a 2020 Reflection 337RLS with a factory mounted 2" receiver hitch upgrade. We can't find a weight rating for the hitch anywhere in the owner's manual that was provided. In addition, under the "Rear Bumper" section of the manual (page 175) it specifically states the rear bumper is not designed to carry cargo. We were hoping to use a hitch mounted cargo carrier with no more than 300 pounds of accessories. If you can't carry cargo with the factory installed hitch then what good is it? Looking forward to a response. Thanks.

The 2" receiver has historically been rated at 300 lbs cargo capacity but specifically not rated for towing a second trailer. More recently this receiver has been equipped with safety chain attachment points and a wiring harness connection for potentially towing a second trailer (on some models).
I am going to tagGDRV-Megan from Grand Design so that she can look into the specifics of your situation. She will be looking for your VIN to make sure that you get the right answer.
If you go with a cargo carrier, make sure that it is rated for use on a trailer. The back end of a 5th wheel has far more bounce than the rear bumper of a car or truck.

It's been a couple years so memory might be faded a bit but I looked at some Solitudes, and Reflections I think, that had the factory installed 2 inch receiver. Those I saw had a placard on the receiver of 3500 tow capacity and 350 tongue weight. You had to get down to see the placard.2007 Itasca Horizon w/2017 Wrangler "pusher toad"

Thanks for the feedback on this. Very much appreciated. Planning to move the spare tire to the cargo carrier for easier access. Also going to mount my ClearSource two-stage water filter system on the carrier for easy water hookup.Mark & Ellen

Should i assume that a 2023 Reflection RLTS Travel Trailer has the same specs for the rear 2" hitch receiver? We want to haul two (2) eBikes and the Hyperax Volt RV bike rack. Bikes each way approx 74lbs w/battery and the rack is 46lbs, for a total of 194lbs. this is a frame mounted hitch receiver and not bumper mounted, as there is no bumper on the 315RLTS.

I'm not familiar with the Hyperax bike rack, but if there's movement between it and the hitch (where the rack is inserted into the receiver) consider "hitch rattle remover". I even use a larger one for the Blue Ox WDH - to truck connection (works great). For the back of the trailer the 2" model works.

I'll second what Howard says about the clamp - I used one for a receiver I used on a utility trailer behind a unibody Ford Explorer. The rattling would drive you nuts inside the car. My perception is that the clearance between receivers and ball mounts has increased over what it was decades ago (probably too many rusted in place).Ottertail, Minnesota
