    Newer Ford Trucks with Trailer Backup Assistance

    5th Gen F Series Super Duty are now equipped with Trailer Backup Assistance.
    My new F350 came with an attachment for large trailers and stickers for smaller trailers.
    I was going to set up my 12ft enclosed trailer to be able to test out the Backup Assistant.

    What is the community's experience with the Backup Assistant?
    Has anyone used the Backup Assistant on a 5er/Horse trailer/Race trailer?
    Thoughts, please.

    I tried it with a small utility trailer, but didn't give it much of a chance after two or three attempts. The "old fashioned way" works for me.

      Raven's Roost I will be interested in responses to your question.

      My 2022 F350 has this same “capability” and I read through the installation and set-up procedure. Looks complicated. Then, I considered whether I would trust this with backing my relatively small Reflection 5th wheel . . . and decided “No!”.

      If you can make this work with a dually and a Momentum, I will be impressed . . . and might follow your lead.

        The entire Sync4 Infotainment system is hugely different between my 21 and the new 24. Set up "LOOKS" easy. IMHO Ford has done a much better job with the electronic goodies. Smart Hitch, Built in Scales.
        Anyway...I will report back.
        If I can make backing the Momentum easier...anything has to help.

          I’ve used it on my F350 dually with my Momentum 320G, easy setup and works pretty good, just weird watching the steering wheel spinning back and forth.

            Same here. Seemed to me that twisting the little dial and working the steering wheel were essentially the same and went back to the old fashioned way. Never bothered to try it on my Momentum 23G nor my new enclosed 5x8.

              I set it up for my Momentum 21G. Because it is a bumper pull, you use the sticker on the trailer tongue. Problem is, when you make a sharp-ish turn, the tongue jack gets in front of the sticker so the backup camera can't see it and the back-up assist turns off.

              To me, the best way to use it is to back up in a straight line.
