Hello
I struggled with the weight of the weight distribution hitch for years. It's very heavy, awckwardly shaped, dirty, and greasy.
Finally I got off my ass before the next trip and made this:
I am shocked at how well it works:
All that's required is a 1/2" conduit bender and 115cm of EMT (the final length after the cut is 90cm).
4 bends one right after the other, offsetting to avoid the bender's pipe only on the last two bends.
I have almost no experience bending conduit, so probably anyone can do this. And if you have an electrician friend: I'm sure he'll be happy to help in exchange for a coffee/beer/whatever.
If you don't have some handle for your hitch: really thing of making one, it is soooo nice!

I am shocked at how well it works:
- The EMT conduit is plenty rigid enough to keep its shape with the weight of the hitch hanging off it
- It's very comfortable
- Can be used with one or two hands, from the top or the side
- Slides in and out of the hitch holes easily when unloaded, and not at all when loaded
