    So if I havent been storing correctly (was given scale free from previous owner) how long should I let it "Calibrate" before I can assume readings are correct.

      If air has been drawn into the hydraulic chamber by storing the scale incorrectly, it is not likely going to get out by itself. The Sherline manual https://sherline.com/wp-content/uplo...ooklet_web.pdf has instructions on how to purge the air. (Right side of page 11).

        One small air bubble will skew the measurement.
