Thank you for asking these questions! It forced me to go back and examine my capabilities and ratings. It never hurts to review that once in a while. And if my thinking or understanding is in error, it serves as an opportunity to correct that.

    Bob,

I've also learned a few things about the dual limits which appears to only apply to half tons. Ive seen this on GM as well as Ford and am not sure on Stellantis.
Here is some additional information on the GM products where they recommend a WDH if tongue weights are beyond 700-800 lbs. Interesting that the manual has no verbiage on this limit but quotes trailer GVW at 7000 and above. In the case of the half ton, I would agree with a tongue weight exceeding 700-800lb, a WDH should be used.

Sway control is at least as important as weight distribution. Why would you not want sway control even if your truck can handle the load without weight distribution???

Even though the post is from a few years back, the question about changing tow vehicles and weight distribution hitches remains relevant. It's crucial to ensure safety and stability when towing, especially with a new setup. www.a1autotransport.com/ might have updated insights and advice to offer, given their expertise in vehicle transportation.

Langsung -- if you'll provide more information specific to your situation I'm sure there's someone here who can provide an input.
