nickirowe You will need to check to see that the trailer does not remove too much weight off the steering axle of the Tahoe. The steering axle also provides majority of the braking.

With the Heavy Duty hitch, you will still need to monitor the tongue load. This may be as simple as unloading the basement or moving items inside the unit toward the back to help offset the tongue load.

In any case, it's your final decision to tow or not to tow. Options provided here are just that Opinions and SHOULD NOT BE USED AS THE DETERMINING FACTOR IN YOUR DECISION.

Your better option may be to rent a larger TV (1 ton dually) or if you have a friend ask him to tow it or loan you his truck.

I have towed a TT with out a weght distribution hitch to my dealer one time and one way , only about 15 miles each way. The ride to the dealer was not fun at all, 15 miles 2 lane highway top speed at 50 mph. I use the weight hitch for the ride home, much better. If you have a friend or if your dealer would allow you to use a hitch to get you there would be most helpful. A standard weight distribution hitch is very easy to install.

If in doubt, find another way.

Don't know if this is possible (shooting from hip with this idea), but the dealer has trailers delivered all the time by independent drivers (with the appropriate business license, insurance, etc). Get your dealer to contact an inbound driver (or get their info and contact them yourself) and have them tow it to the ProPride dealer location. Money well spent for the peace of mind?

I see delivery drivers hauling new TTs (sometimes moving very fast) without weight distributing hitches . . . albeit, usually towing with a dually. Arranging for one of these commercial drivers to take the trailer to the hitch dealer should work.

What does your Tahoe Owner’s Manual say as to when a Weight Distribution Hitch is required as it applies to towing a trailer? When we had a TT, we didn’t use a WDH for ~5 miles or less trips. 100 miles plus, that’s pushing it, but we’ve seen others doing this.
