  • Airbags with weight distribution set up

I have the equalizer weight distribution set up by the dealer and I have a reflection 315rlts. My f250 squats loaded with gear about 3/4in-1in with water etc. I am getting airbags installed. Would I make the different up for level ride now with it all set up and add air till the truck rides level? Or would I need to adjust the weight distribution again adding the airbags? I read equalizer says set it up, then add air for the difference up to 1in but then last sentence they say adding air may require adjusting the weight distribution. I just feel if I add air to the rear of the truck it’ll take weight off the weight distribution and defeat the purpose. And yes I’m within all towing specs etc.

Any suggestions would be great on proper set up. I’ve tried to do research and theirs mixed reviews and opinions.

Air the bags up with approx. 45psi without the hitch bars installed. Then set up the hitch with the bars per the hitch instructions. In my half ton, I chose to set up the truck and bars so the truck sits in the empty stance ready for travel where this was done to add more mass to the front axle and to allow for more rear suspension travel. All aluminum engines and aluminum sheet metal has resulted in much less mass on the front axle which can result in oversteer, so this strategy has worked very well for me where the truck handles great.
With your 3/4 ton application you will have more mass on the front axle to begin with where shooting for a level truck, ready for travel probably would work for you. What's important is to not set up the hitch then air up the bags. Doing this will result in the bars transferring little to no mass and offering no contribution for anti-sway.
