So here's a slightly different perspective. We've gone camping with my in-laws & their camper the past few years. While my wife and I have slept on the lousy sofa-sleeper, my son had to stay outside the camper in a tent (and in at least 2 occurrences, the back seat of the truck because of heavier rain). Now that we have our rig, (headed to the lake this weekend), he is super excited about getting to stay inside the camper. He has camped with my in-laws before and so he has experience sleeping on those pullout beds--and he is still excited about it.
I think this whole thread just exemplifies that perspective is everything. There's a lot of really great, very valid points offered; but you know your son and perhaps you can predict what his perspective may be (and dare I say it, maybe you can help him understand and align his perspective to reflect yours).
For what it's worth, since the 295 and 2970 are so similar in the LR area, I can still kick the legs up on one of the recliners with the bed pulled out. .
