It is a must to know how to control cars and trucks when you loose traction even if you never see snow. Rain can be nearly as bad. And it is a lot of fun if done safely.

P.S. Barb hates it when I slide the car or truck too but both kids used to love it. Just have to do it sometimes just to test her reaction to make sure it is still the same.

    Rob,

I did the same where my three daughters were taught how to drive on standard equipment. Then moved on to cars equipped with stability control. Funny on teaching the wife, I slide my truck just slightly and the wife comes unglued. And she does not want any advanced training.
I did manage to get across to her that a vehicle equipped with a stability feature.....the vehicle will control to put it in the direction your pointing the steering wheel. So don't freeze on the wheel.

When I worked on calibrating the ZR1 with our team, we had no stability systems early on and we ran the heck out of them. For the general public, this feature will save people from themselves in many circumstances.

There is a quote from one of the guys the helped develop the Dodge Viper. Something along the lines "It the most fun to have in a car that is actively trying to kill you", because the first Vipers had nothing in the way of traction control or any of that stuff on the actual production car.

        Mike,

Its true. Many crashes in those cars back then on the street. I worked for Chrysler years ago, and had been in vipers but was not involved in those programs. For most drivers, tooling around in 600+ HP cars, modern stability systems becomes important where its easy to run out of talent.

My dream car is a 1994 Viper. My wife and I had a deal that when I put on Chief I get my car. I promoted to Chief in 2018 and well with a kid and two dogs the Imagine takes the place of my Viper funds. So is life. When my wife and I first met I had the 2004 Ram SRT10 and she loved that truck. Found out she was pregnant and traded my dream truck for her durango. Every now and then we see a Viper or SRT10 Ram and she looks at me and says one day. When the Hell is one day lmao.
