  • Why does it take so long to get parts from Grand Design

Hi All, we bought a 2019 Grand Design Imagine 2600 RB in April 2019. We've had several issues with it, hot water heater(repaired by the dealer), slide skirt and the awning. The slide skirt was damaged when we bought it, took 2 months for the new part to arrive at my dealership, when it was upacked it was damaged too, why would Grand Design knowly send a damaged part. It's been reordered, as of today the part still isnt here. We had an issue with our awning it was binding on opening and not closing all the way. Pictures and video were sent to Grand Design, it was decided the wrong sized fabric was installed in the awning, doesn't make sense to me but thats what was decided, new awning fabric was ordered at the beginning of September, that still isnt at the dealership either. So my question is why does it take so long to get parts from Grand Design? Fortunatley none of these issues have prevented us from using the trailer, though I'd be concerned pulling the trailer any distance with the way the awning is. Thank You.

I've seen these types of delays many times since I've been involved with Grand design (since 2014). 99% of the time, the delays are because the dealership failed to order the parts in a timely manner. There is a way to check to see if the dealer is being honest with you. Call Grand Design customer service at 574-825-9679 and provide your VIN. Grand Design will check their computer system to see if a warranty parts or work order has been submitted by the dealership. If not, you need to have a candid conversation with your dealership's management team. If there is a parts order, they should be able to give you information such as if there is a back-order on the parts.

Thanks for the information Jim, I'll give them a call. I trust this dealership, I've been dealing with them for many years.

msharris61 Thanks for your message! I just pulled up your unit history of your unit. Here's what I found:

        4/18/19 - Date of Purchase
5/3/19 - parts ordered (crisper bin)
5/3/19 - parts shipped from GDRV
5/8/19 - parts delivered to dealer
5/27/19 - Warranty claim #1 created by dealer (includes a bad thermostat and a cracked crisper bin)
5/28/19 - Warranty claim #1 approved by GDRV
6/24/19 - parts ordered (fender skirt)
6/24/19 - parts shipped from GDRV
6/28/19 - parts delivered to dealer
9/4/19 - Warranty claim #2 created by dealer (includes awning material)
9/4/19 - Warranty claim #1 approved by GDRV (notes in the claim state that the fabric appears to need adjustment, once adjusted the wrinkles will smooth out when the awning warms in the sun) - no new awning or fabric only needed

I'm not sure what you mean that it takes so long to get the parts from Grand Design. According to the timeline above, we have shipped the parts almost immediately receiving an order from your dealer. If there is anything that is outstanding, I would recommend reaching out to us directly so that we can get it all taken care of as quickly as possible. Thanks!!
