  • The Factory Repair Center

During this summer's IND Rally a number of us ended up with repair appt's at the GD repair facility. Our's is coming up this coming Monday. Does anyone have a feel for how the repair process is going? Are you getting your camper's back timely and repairs completed? Are they backlogged, delayed or behind schedule?
Just curious as we need ours back by the end of the year to pack up and head to FL.
Thanks for any light you may shed.

Great, thanks. It will be parked in the camper area Sunday night for you Monday. Do you need a certain key to get inside? I assume you have all masters.

I will have to get with Valerie Rogers. Can you please tell me your name, so that I can give her a head's up?

They do not have "masters". When a driver picked up my rig in Arizona for delivery to the factory, he said I didn't need to send the key since GDRV had masters. However, as soon as the rig arrived at the repair center, I got a call from Valerie that they couldn't get into it without the key. I had to overnight ship my key.

Another key issue is your holding tanks. The sites do not have sewer hook ups and the factory wants your trailer with completely empty tanks so plan accordingly.

The sites are nothing more than parking spots this time of year--everything is shut off.

                  Jim,

At the rally, GDRV mentioned not to lock the deadbolts and to only lock the main door lock. Is it possible the deadbolt cannot be opened with the master?

I'm interested in the factory repair process since GDRV will be picking up my rig in April for a left side wall replacement. Once again, GDRV steps up to take care of the customer.

If you look carefully at the outside of your door locks, one will have a stamped "M". This lock can be opened with a master key (which Grand Design will have). The other lock without the "M" cannot be opened with a master key. Lock only the one labeled "M" for service work.

When we brought our 303 to the factory for walls and slide walls replacement in 5/2018 Jerry shared in the below email to me that they do have a dump station....... somewhere. See the following pertinent section of that email from Jerry:

"We will be sure to reserve a site for you for Sunday night (5/6). Water & electric hook ups. We have a dump station on site.

                        JD, Val,

Please add the above items to the Cressman punch list. Also, please get a site reserved. Thanks!"

When I shared that with Val before I left she seemed to know and would have the team take care of emptying our tanks. I would be interested to learn if they really do or do not.

The factory service center does have a dump and flush location outside the NE corner of the building. Close to the camping sites, but inside the fence. I was told that both water and electricity to the sites are shut off during the winter months.

Wow, you guys have been busy, plenty of helpful remarks. Thanks for the info regarding the key. Also, I won't need the facilities there as this is just a drop off. We live in SE Michigan and this is just a day trip for us. I'll add to the thread when it's ready.

If you can park where I did (far east end, or the first spot you come to when entering the area) you can walk through a personnel gate right behind where you see my camper in post #8. The Customer Service entrance is a very short walk (also facing east) once through the gate. FYI, the receptionist in Customer Service isn't at the counter until 8am.
