But dag gum--the silicone sealant GD ran along the top of the horizontal (new) bulb seal didn't even last one month! I had to scrape it all off. Not a fun time. When I reapplied I used RVFlex. Harder to work with, but it was recommended quite awhile ago by fellow 315RLTS owner Chiefblueman so that's what I use.
Here's the before and after pics (this is the kitchen slide, the one with the new seals):
Silicone Sealant Cracked and Separated
RV Flex Sealant Applied
Time will tell if it holds up better. I sure hope so!

DanForum moderators are not GD employees--we are volunteers and owners presumably just like yourself. Unless specifically mentioned otherwise, we have nothing to gain should you choose to purchase a product or engage a service we discuss on this forum.

Regarding the seals--while up at Grand Design the moderators were taken on an up-close tour of the factory lines. I, of course, had to look at the seals on the campers in production. To my delight GD has switched to a new style seal where the wiper and bulb are one assembly. The inner and outer wipers are now separate assemblies.
With the Service Manager's permission I snagged a scrap of the new seal. Note the glue (where my pointing finger is touching the seal.) That bonds the seal into place. Then they screw it in, too. The arrow I added shows where it is screwed in to the camper from the outside. The seal is now replaceable without hyper-extending the slide. Outstanding, Grand Design!
The second picture shows the "wiper tip" that helps to clean the water off the slide. Also a fine addition.
Lots of experience on this forum. Don't hesitate to ask questions. The four moderators and the "regulars" here are all owners--we are not Grand Design employees. Though this site is owned by Grand Design, they allow us to criticize when justified. To me that shows how transparent they are willing to be.
