  • Adding another ladder or screw in fixture to rear of 5th wheel

I have a 2020 150 series 295RL. I would like to add a second ladder or rack in the rear but I'd like to know what good strong material I'd be screwing into. Gonna figure a way to transport a pair of kayaks vertically. Thanks.

The OEM ladder is screwed into EGS plates. (EGS is electro galvanized steel sheet.) The EGS is under the outerlayment to give the screws something to "bite" into and hold the ladder. The opposite side of the camper does not have EGS for a ladder.

I can't provide any advice on transporting the kayaks, but adding a second ladder is not a good idea (IMHO).

      Welcome to the forum Dueeast.

I pulled your print package and examined the structure of the rear wall. When GDRV built the wall, they installed sheet metal for mounting the original ladder. Unfortunately, they did not install any equivalent bracing for another ladder with the same mounting points on the other side. So that portion of the wall is simply fiberglass, foam insulation, Luan paneling and a wall paper type finish. There are a few narrow metal strips running horizontally in the wall, but they are not at the same height as the ladder backers. If you're interested in looking at the drawing, you can request the following drawing from GDRV customer service:

How about a roof top system as depicted in this link?

There is a vertical kayak carrier that goes into the hitch on the rear off an RV. To mount something on the rear wall one could drill thru the rear wall at the top , below the running lights , and into the upper storage cabinets on the back wall inside. Adding a plate on the inside , maybe 6" square , would distribute the force to a larger area of the wall. This , in theory , would allow a mount or steadying device up higher on the back wall.
