Roof inspection revealed exposed screw

While cleaning my roof I noticed that there is a screw head exposed in the caulking around the ladder mount. After researching it appears that the product to use is Alpha 1021 self leveling sealant. Can I just clean the old sealant and apply the new over top or does the old stuff need to be removed first?

Absolutely you go right over the old sealant. Just clean it first.
