  • 336M bed cut-down

In the 336M the bed platform is also the ceiling of the garage. The platform is sized for a king size bed, I would like to reduce the size to queen size. I can see that the platform has all the extra support on the door side of the frame. Dealer said it could not the reduced. Please, any suggestions.

The floor plan for the 336M (that GD allows the moderators to access) shows the standard configuration is a queen with a king being an option. My point is my guess is it should be able to convert it to a "standard" queen configuration.

I'd research the local Craigslist, RVTrader, etc., to try and find a 336M with the queen configuration. Go see it and take copious pictures and measurements to determine what's different in that standard setup versus what's in yours with the King. At least then you'll have some idea of what's involved.

However, the hardest part may be finding someone who is not only knowledgeable enough to make the change but willing to make the change.

Merlin, howson has provided sound advice, as always. I suspect that what you'll find is that the width of the garage is the same regardless of the size of the platform, and that for the king size platform the overhang on the curbside is increased. With decent carpentry skills, it should not be too difficult to cut the platform back to queen size.

On a Reflection 315rlts 2023 is there a conversion kit available, changing a queen to a king bed? I believe there is for a Solitude. Thank you so much.

Not that I'm aware of, Scott.

The bed platform is basically a sheet of plywood. Basic carpentry skills required to change that. I expect that all that changes between queen and king is the plywood overhang. I changed the plywood platform on ours from “undersized for queen” to “correctly sized for queen” to provide better support for the edges of the mattress.

Robin and I modified our bed platform by measuring our mattress and trimming the overhang to fit with a circular saw and a Sander for touch up.

When going from a Queen to a King, there may be changes to the cabinets next to the bed. I remember seeing a trailer with a King and comparing to the Queen one of the cabinets was sacrificed to allow for the difference in width.
