Is the back of the shoe storage now open to the basement pass through storage space?

Here’s a picture that shows how I reversed the riser and attached it to the back of the step frame.

Wife had a good idea of putting a small light in the back of the shoe storage that would come off the stair light. But that came after the task was nearly complete and she knows how I feel about change orders.
