  • No Power After Storage

Good morning. We full time but have had our trailer in storage for the past month. When we put it in storage we disconnected both battery disconnects, the one that came with the trailer and the one we installed to actually disconnect the batteries.
We reconnected those but have no power. We have solar and the charge controller has no display. We plugged into 110 shore power and still nothing. Putting a voltmeter on one of the batteries shows about 2 volts.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

When you plugged in shore power did your 120v things come on at least (microwave etc)? If they did but you still got no 12v I'd look for a blown fuse. There's a set on the converter that protect from a reverse polarity, maybe they tripped somehow?

No, no lights on anything. Nothing.

Batteries at 2 volts, wow, they may be completely shot. The converter/charger will not like that voltage. You may need to use a stand alone charger or take the batteries to a autoparts store that can check them and charge them. I am not sure how you have the battery disconnect wired but it may not be correct, if the batteries are drawn down to 2 volts something was being powered.

If none of your 120v circuits were working you have other problems besides your batteries. Those are completely independent of your batteries. Check your pedestal and make sure the power is good there and then your cord and your breakers.

Let's start with the basics. What trailer do you have and is it 50A or 30A.

            Now for the trouble shooting:

1 - Double check shore power has proper voltage at the plug. I suggest you use some type of receptacle tester. As you do not mention if you are using an adapter from 50A to 30A to 15A or straight 30A it's difficult to recommend one.

2 - Verify that the trailer end of the chord is powered (I recently had one get damaged at the head leading to tripped breaker). This may sound odd, but damage can occur to the power cord

3 - Verify the cord is properly seated at the trailer.

4 - Ensure the trailer main breaker is on.

5 - If you have a hard wired EMS, check for faults.

Once you have done all of this and you still have no power, then it's time to dig a bit farther.

6 - Ensure trailer inside connections to the cord receptacle is still attached and the wire screws are tight.

7 - Using a multi meter carefully check incoming voltage to the main breaker, verify power using Hot leg and Neutral only as the ground will give you voltage, but will not power the camper.

8 - Seek professional help as the issue may be much more involved.
