  • Wire Building / Termination References

Note: Most of the post below is a copy from the thread https://gdrvowners.com/forum/operati...duty-mega-lugs

I'm going to add other references into this post so the information is in one place (work in progress...)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I believe this reference to Marine How To's informative blog on Wire Termination was first posted by gbkims : https://marinehowto.com/marine-wire-termination/ The website is full of useful articles, so take time to look around! https://marinehowto.com/

Another great resource is Victron's Wiring Unlimited e-book: https://www.victronenergy.com/blog/2...ing-unlimited/

The Electrical Connections for Power Circuits (US Gov doc) is another resource: https://www.usbr.gov/power/data/fist/fist3_3/vol3-3.pdf IMHO it's a bit of overkill for the level of work we're doing on our RVs, but it's available nonetheless.

"Tip of the hat" to both TucsonJim and Cate&Rob (and others I apologize I may be overlooking) as the majority of the items below were purchased and used based on their recommendation.

The wires in this post are good choices (among many) to consider for your inverter / solar / battery project. The size of the wire is dependent on many factors--not the point of this post--so that topic is not covered. These are provided for reference only and align with Will Prowse' recommendations (from his video in post 1).

All of these cables were purchased through AMSolar (most came with the initial "kit"). To find where they were used please consult my schematic.

What you see on the wire is all the information I have other than what is on AMSolar's website.

6/4 Wire for 120vAC (To and From Inverter--I didn't use this wire. Instead I used "regular" wire from Lowes due to length issues with what was sent and cost).
